The most obvious design property is to use the shortest possible signal path in the most consequent way.
That´s why all the in- and output sockets are directly adapted and soldered on the circuit board.
There are no wirings inside the balanced reference phonostage, that could cause any interferences.
Another characteristic is the dual-mono-design, which means that each unit is in a separate housing, where the left and right channel are working without influencing each other, which results in unlimited channel separation.
Even each mono unit is matched to a pair in terms of phase and RIAA-characteristics which leads to an unreached authentic 3-dimensional soundstage.
Another feature is the consequent usage of absolutely nonmagnetic metalfilm DALE-resistors with a tolerance lower than 0,1%! The amplification is adjustable in 3 dB steps adjustable from 10 dB to 63 dB. Therefore we used a direct on the circuit board soldered ultra high quality ELMA switch, with 24kt hard-gold-plated contacts to ensure lowest possible resistance and a long life. You also have the option to connect your phonostage directly to all common power amplifiers, without a preamplifier that might affect the sound quality.

There is a built in switch-on-delay of 2 seconds, that prevents from interferences in your loudspeakers.
There is a choice of two sets of symmetrical inputs, a Neutrik XLR input or the micro-Binder input, already built in.
Unsymmetrical in- and outputs are available via absolute nonmagnetic clearaudio RCA-jacks which are built in already as well.
The input impedance as well as the input capacitance are adjustable on the circuit board or from outside, while plugging a connector fitted with the adequate value into one of the two sets of symmetrical inputs. This makes it easy to match all common cartridges with the balanced reference phonostage.
Even any moving magnet cartridge can be used with the Balanced Reference Phonostage.
