The Thorens 800 range offers equipment featuring all the legendary Thorens characteristics. At the heart of all three models is the completely maintenancefree silent-run bearing. Its highly polished stainless steel axle has a bearing point in the form of a ball and runs in two maintenance-free bushings. The AC synchronous motor is controlled by a separate electronic motor drive unit. The output signal is generated completely independently from the main power supply. This considerably improves wow and flutter, even if the main source is low quality and marred by interference.
The TD 810 delivers perfect, rich sound and precision. The styling is timelessly contemporary, like the TD 800.
In contrast to the smaller model, a 3/16" steel plate is flexibly bonded to the wooden plate of the chassis of the TD 810. This completely absorbs all vibrations. To avoid any magnetic distortion of the audio signal, the steel plate is cut out around the pickup radius and tone arm base.
The 1" thick, 9 lb alloy platter also contributes to the considerable overall weight of 26.5 lbs.
Like the TD 800, the TD 810 has an AC synchronous motor with external drive supply and a Thorens silent-run bearing, and it comes standard with the Thorens TP 250 tone arm and vertical tracking alignment system.
