Ortofon 2M Black

The cartridfge Ortofon 2M Black is the high-end cartridge of the 2M range and is equipped with a Shibata tip.

The philosophy of Ortofon is to render as accurate as possible the sound recorded on the disc, without coloring or deforming the sound.

The new 2M series is the culmination of a long search for a very high performance mobile magnet cartrdige, both in terms of the response curve and the level of musicality. The name 2M comes from the MM of Mobile Magnet. The design was entrusted to Copenhagen's Møller Jensen Design, the same designer who designed the Kontrapunkt series.

The 2M Black uses a bare Shibata diamond. 2M technology is based on a split magnet magnetic motor to reduce eddy currents. This makes it possible to obtain an extremely flat response curve. The quality of this magnetic assembly gives it a remarkable sensitivity of 5mV.
