Ortofon 2M Red MM

Ortofon 2M Red is an MM cartridge designed for precise and accurate recovery of information in the grooves.

The philosophy of Ortofon is to restitute as accurate as possible the sound recorded on the disc, without coloring or deforming the sound.

The new 2M series is the culmination of a long quest to obtain a mobile magnet cartridge with very high performance, both in terms of the response curve and the level of musicality. The name 2M comes from the MM of Mobile Magnet. The design was entrusted to Copenhagen's Møller Jensen Design, the same designer who designed the Kontrapunkt series.
The 2M Red uses a chimney elliptical diamond. 2M technology is based on a split magnet magnetic motor to reduce eddy currents. This makes it possible to obtain an extremely flat response curve. The quality of this magnetic assembly gives it a remarkable sensitivity of 5.5mV.

This cartridge is available in three versions, 2M Red, 2M Red Verso and 2M Red PNP MKII.
